Security Advocate Guidelines
As a SmartScan Security Advocate, you represent a forensic security service used by journalists, activists, legal professionals, and abuse survivors. These guidelines ensure we maintain the trust that makes our mission possible.
Core Principles
1. Accuracy First
Only make claims about SmartScan that are documented in our official materials. If you're unsure about a capability, ask us before communicating it to potential clients.
✓ "SmartScan detects network communication patterns associated with known spyware"
✗ "SmartScan guarantees your phone is 100% clean"
2. No Fear Manipulation
Spyware is a real threat, but we don't exploit anxiety to drive sales. Present facts objectively. Let people make informed decisions without emotional manipulation.
✓ "Spyware like Pegasus has been documented targeting journalists in 45+ countries"
✗ "Your ex is probably watching you RIGHT NOW through your camera!!!"
3. Respect Privacy
Never ask clients for their scan results or personal details unless they volunteer them. Never share client information with third parties.
4. No Spam or Aggressive Outreach
Share SmartScan with people who have expressed interest in security or who you genuinely believe would benefit. Mass messaging, cold outreach spam, and aggressive sales tactics are prohibited.
5. Disclose Your Relationship
When recommending SmartScan, be transparent that you're a Security Advocate who receives compensation for referrals. Trust requires honesty.
Prohibited Practices
The following will result in immediate removal from the program:
- Making false claims about SmartScan's capabilities or guarantees
- Impersonating SmartScan staff or claiming to be an "official" representative
- Using SmartScan branding in ways not authorized by our brand guidelines
- Targeting vulnerable individuals with manipulative messaging
- Spamming any channel (social media, email, messaging apps)
- Purchasing paid advertising without pre-approval
- Making medical, legal, or safety guarantees
- Engaging in any illegal activity in connection with the program
Best Practices
- Use our official marketing materials — they're designed to be accurate and effective
- Focus on education: help people understand the threat landscape, not just the product
- Be available to answer questions before and after referral
- Share relevant news about spyware (Citizen Lab reports, news coverage) to establish expertise
- Connect with communities where you have genuine credibility
- Report any issues or concerns to advocate-support@securepath.biz
Enforcement
Violations of these guidelines are handled as follows:
- First violation (minor): Written warning with required acknowledgment
- Second violation: Temporary suspension (30 days) with mandatory re-training
- Third violation or any major violation: Permanent removal from program
⚠️ Serious violations (fraud, impersonation, illegal activity) result in immediate permanent removal without warning.
Agreement
By participating in the SmartScan Security Advocate program, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to follow these guidelines. These guidelines may be updated; Advocates will be notified of changes.
